This page explains what information Atlas handles when you use our website, our bot, or a custom bot we host for you, including information we receive from Discord when you are in a server that uses Atlas. We try our best to avoid collecting information unless necessary.
You must be at least 13 years old, and meet Discord's minimum age for your country, to use Atlas.
What Atlas Sees
Atlas receives information from Discord about the servers it is in, as it happens. Because of how the Discord API works, Atlas has to cache some of it for normal bot functionality, including:
- Servers, channels, threads and roles.
- Server members and their profiles, such as usernames, nicknames, avatars and roles.
- Recent messages in each channel, including their content, attachments and reactions.
- Who is in which voice channel. Atlas never joins voice channels, so it can't hear or record voice conversations.
This cached data is temporary. It isn't saved anywhere, is cleared whenever Atlas restarts, and is kept in sync with Discord. If a message is edited or deleted, a member leaves, a channel is deleted or Atlas is removed from a server, the cached copy is updated or removed straight away. We keep the cache as small as we can, such as only keeping a limited number of recent messages per channel. Some short-lived data, such as button state and rate limits, is also kept briefly and expires automatically.
Atlas uses this to power the plugins each server enables. For example, it reads messages for moderation filters, logging, levels, starboards and custom commands, and uses member information for welcome messages, moderation and level rewards. We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or use message content to train AI models.
What We Store
We only save what the features you or your server use actually need. Most of it is settings, Discord IDs and numbers like levels and XP. We do not save usernames, profiles or message history, and the only text we save is what someone deliberately gives Atlas.
For each server, we save:
- Its settings and anything its administrators set up through the dashboard or commands, plus information saved by its scripts.
- Records created by its plugins, such as levels, moderation cases, tickets, suggestions, reminders and polls, including any reasons, reminder text or poll questions people enter.
- Its custom bot's token and appearance settings, if it has one.
This is kept while Atlas is in the server. Once Atlas has been removed for 60 days, everything saved for that server is deleted, and it is completely gone from our systems within a further 30 days. Servers with a Prime subscription are kept until the subscription is removed.
For individual users, we save:
- A login session if you sign in to the dashboard, so you stay signed in. It is deleted when you sign out, or after a while if you stop using the dashboard.
- Your subscription details if you have Prime.
We also keep service logs and error reports to find and fix problems, which are deleted automatically after a limited time. Feedback you send through the dashboard is posted to our team's Discord server, and only includes your username if you ask us to contact you.
Everything we save is encrypted at rest, with custom bot tokens having additional protections on top.
Cookies
The dashboard only uses the cookies it needs to work: one to keep you signed in, one to remember your language, and one to remember the last server you opened. Some interface preferences are also saved in your browser. We don't use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. Our website delivery provider may also set cookies it needs to protect the website from abuse.
Sharing Information
Plugins may display information in Discord, such as moderation logs, leaderboards and starboards. Scripts can also send information to external services set up by server administrators.
We use service providers for hosting, website delivery and error reporting. They only process information as needed to provide those services, and may do so in countries other than yours. We may also disclose information when required by law.
Prime is purchased through Patreon, under their own privacy policy. We don't send Patreon any of your information, we only receive which Discord account is subscribed and to which tier.
Data Deletion
You can request a copy of your information, or ask us to delete it, by emailing [email protected]. Server owners can also ask us to delete a server's information immediately instead of waiting for it to be removed automatically. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to correct your information, object to or restrict how we use it, and complain to your local data protection authority. We handle these requests manually and may ask you to confirm your identity. If you keep using Atlas or participating in servers that use it, information may be collected again depending on the features those servers enable.
